Joe Abs BeachBody Workout January 5 2019 – Core De Force MMA Shred

Joe Abs 5th BeachBody workout of 2019 – January 5, 2019.

Today my wife Stacia Kennedy joined me for my BeachBody workout. She’s had great success using Core De Force programs in the past, so I chose to go with a workout she was familiar with – MMA Shred from Core De Force and BeachBody on Demand. It was a really sweaty workout and we were also joined by two year old Ava Kalea who really wanted to join in the fun.

Today’s BeachBody Workout: Total Body Core – Day 1 of BeachBody 80 Obsession

As I touched on in my blog post earlier today, my new schedule was derailed, but I had the opportunity to practice patience and flexibility. It also gave me the chance to make sure I got my BeachBody workout in no matter what.

Today’s BeachBody on Demand workout was Total Body Core, Day 1 of the 80 Day Obsession program with Autumn Calabrese. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the workout and how much it made me sweat. Autumn is a very experience trainer who explains the exercises very well and helps to motivate throughout the program.

Why I Went All-In as a Team BeachBody Coach

All-In with BeachBody and Joe AbsThree days ago I signed up as a Team BeachBody Coach, to help people get fit, healthy and happy!  I’m so excited to get started in this new business and lifestyle!

In interest of full disclosure and total transparency – this is not the first time I’ve been a Team BeachBody Coach.  I initially signed up as a ‘Coach’ about a year and a half ago, shortly after our daughter Ava Kalea was born.  My wife signed up to get back in shape after having the baby and wanted to get into the business while she was a stay at home mom – and I wanted to support her.  I was extremely skeptical of 1) working out at home and 2) BeachBody products in general – but always want to support my wife any way I can – and I was of course super happy that she wanted to get back into shape!  (the better shape we are in, the more fun our practice for making Ava Kalea, Jacqueline and Makaya a baby brother ……) Continue reading Why I Went All-In as a Team BeachBody Coach

Latest DEXA Results Are In 90 Days Post Hernia

Joe Abs DEXA Results 031617This morning I took my first DEXA Body Composition exam since November 25, 2015.  It has been just 90 days since I was released to workout after recovering from hernia surgery in October.  It’s also been just over 6 months since Ava Kalea Kennedy was born – and man is it hard to work off that baby weight 😉  !!!!

I have been working out pretty good – at home with BeachBody workouts and sometimes at a 24 Hour Fitness – but my membership there just expired, so now I’ll be working out at home and on the beach with BeachBody and Stacia Kennedy.  My clean eating has been pretty good, with a mostly pescatarian diet for the past month or so.

The last couple of times I had a DEXA scan, I was very disappointed in my results – I was expecting much better results – probably because I once tested out at 5.2% bodyfat on a BodPod.  While I know the BodPod is nowhere near as accurate as a DEXA scan, I was still hoping for less than 10% bodyfat.  In November 2015, I was 14.4% at 157.8 lbs.  Today I tested out at 14.5% body fat and weighed in at 165.9.  So in the last 16 months or so, I’ve not been able to workout much because of the hernia, my wife had a baby (usually a time of weight gain for both parents), had surgery, been diagnosed with AFIB, became a BeachBody Coach, gained about 8 lbs of muscle while maintaining a percentage of body fat that is lower than 92% of 25 year olds.

Not bad for a 54 year old guy whose abs are coming back ….

Food Intake December 23, 2016

4:30 – Shakeology w 16 oz H2O

7:15 – 1 HB egg, preworkout drink with 16 oz H2O

7:30 – Workout, 64 oz H2O

9:45 am – 3 handfuls cashews (a weakness)

10am – 2 grilled cheeseburgers (grass fed beef) no bun, 4 poached eggs, 1 slice of whole wheat toast, green drink

6PM – grilled chicken scallopeni with 4 eggs fried in avocado oil, 1 oz cheese, green drink

8pm – 2 handfuls almonds, 2 handfuls, raisins
